Frequently Asked Questions
-
A complimentary fit call gives us a chance to talk about what’s happening in your life, what you’d like to change, and whether my approach is a good match. I’ll answer your questions and be direct about whether I think coaching is appropriate.
-
No. While I do have experience as a professional therapist, coaching is not the same as traditional therapy.
-
While coaching is rooted in similar techniques as psychotherapy, it does not involve any diagnosis or pathology in the way that traditional therapy does. Ideal clients for coaching are those who are not in a state of crisis but those seeking intentional growth and achievement beyond where they feel they’ve been able to reach on their own or through previous efforts. While traditional therapy may cover many topics over an extended period of time, we will identify highly specific needs and target them for growth. Coaching clients may continue work with a traditional therapist in addition to the work they do with a professional coach.
For coaching to be effective, there is an expectation of accountability and following through on assigned work between sessions. This means that, unlike traditional therapy, you can expect me to follow up with you and help keep you on track. You will also be able to contact me for brief, as-needed calls during the duration of your coaching package.
Like therapy, coaching maintains confidentiality and requires emotional and mental energy from participants. This is difficult work that is not for everyone, but I will be there to help you through it!

My approach to coaching is a “high-touch” advisory partnership, which means that clients have more contact with me and more personalized attention than traditional therapy or other forms of coaching offer. In order to provide the depth of attention this work requires, I work with a limited number of clients at a time.

Most sessions are held online. I am also able to arrange to travel to meet with clients in person if requested. If you are interested in this option, let me know.

Because I offer professional coaching rather than therapy, I am not able to accept insurance. I am, however, happy to discuss payment plan options with you.
